Pender`s Cafe in Wilmington

I ordered a cheeseburger and it was raw in the middle and I mean raw!!!!!!!

The breakfast special was a rip off. I wandered into this old style and old looking diner type of restaurant because it was the only place to have a simple breakfast near the post office on Front Street . My first shock happened when they delivered the tiniest sausage I had ever seen with a drop of watery grits and two small eggs for $6. The second shock happened when I found out that the tiny cup of weak coffee cost $ 2 and was being added to a bill with tax that came to about $ 9. Visitors to Wilmington beware Penders Cafe will rip you off .

Burgers, super yummy. The service was very helpful and welcoming. Prices were average for the menu. If it wasn't far from my work I would come by more.

Walked down for breakfast at 10:30 to find it was closed. The sign on the door said open 8 to 3 on Saturdays. No other sign saying why they were closed.

Super delicious & juicy cheeseburger with mustard & sauté onions, lettuce and tomatoes. Big, fat, crunchy french fries. & 's medium coca cola. Or sweet tea. Excellent price $7.69 total

Predictable grill food, just what you expect to find in an old fashioned grill.

Old time cafe feel. The best burgers in town patted out fresh everyday. Great daily specials. Homemade lemonade..

A local gem. Same owner since 1977 who can share a lot of history of the local area. Menu is simple and takes you back to an earlier time frame. Restaurant is nicely decorated with Coca Cola items from the past. We ordered the breakfast special (see photo of their signboard). Items came fast and hot. Good breakfast with simple pricing. The old school lunch counter will take you back to earlier times and you can have great conversation with waitstaff and cooks. Booths are nice and reserved for parties of two or more. Check out the original tin plate ceiling and the designs. How many restaurants today can you find friend bolangi sandwiches!

Longtime local place with friendly staff and lunch country dining. Known for their hand pattied fresh beef burgers.

I love ma and Pa kinds of places and usually pick them over chain restaurants. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with both the atmosphere and the quality. Twice, we were served curdled/ spoiled milk with our coffee which did not boost our confidence with the food. We just decided to pay our bill for our burnt coffee and leave. Also, it was just as hot inside as it was outside. It was hot and dimly lit with tired and unfriendly staff serving spoiled food.

Love the diner feel. Good comfort food. Prices were perfect.

Their burgers and fries are the best. They have great club sandwiches, sweet tea and milkshakes too.

A white and black teen left with takeout without paying (maybe accidental, maybe not). Blonde lady behind the counter called the black teen the n-word after chasing them down. Food was fine.

Friendly staff and a great cheeseburger

Felt very unwelcomed on yesterday when I stopped in to grab a bite during lunch. The waitress just looked at me no greeting or smile. Just continued doing what she was doing I left without saying a word. Wake & Bake is great!

The BEST burger in town. This place has been around for over 70 years and it’s easy to see why. Sit down at a booth or grab a seat at the counter and you’ll fall in love with the staff of this family run business as well as the food. The pender burger is always my go to, but there’s a variety of quick comfort foods to choose from. Be sure to say hello to Mrs. Pender behind the counter!

Excellent cheeseburgers made to order that left me with a need to order 3 more to go. If you enjoy a small atmosphere, friend service, and the absolute best burger Wilmington has to offer, this is your place.

They make individual glasses of lemonade right there behind the bar! Oh and it’s delicious.
